I meant to post this yesterday but didn’t get to it. Our theme on Wednesday was rebuilding and we asked the kids the following question: What needs to be rebuilt in New Orleans and how can that happen? I just thought I would post their answers so you could get a little glimpse into their heads.
What Needs to be Rebuilt:
- Houses
- NOLA
- Crime
- Churches
- Six Flags
- School
- Neighborhoods\
- The Projects (So people have a place to stay)
- Offices
- People
- Pollution/Envrionment
- Parks
- Our Lives
How Can we Rebuild These Things:
- Recycle/Pick up trash
- Don’t smoke (Pollution)
- Enjoy yourself to make a better person
- Raise money to help build
- jobs
- Help with charities
- Form a group
- Helping others/support/volunteer
- Gather Materials
- Wash Cars
- Get more people interested in becoming policemen
On another note, the show is tomorrow and our first week of camp will be over! It is amazing how wonderful this week has been! Keep checking on us!

We’ve been back here in NOLA for, what, four days now, and it feels like we never left.
I’m still enjoying the sights, the sounds and the people….for the most part!
I’m enjoying team teaching with Eisa…it just works.
I’m also enjoying giving each other master classes. Yoga last night was just what my body needed, and my Afro-modern kicked some serious bootay (mine included!)
Looking forward to going back in the room and chillaxing until tomorrow…..day three WOOOOOO!!!!!!!

Today was the second day of camp. Things are going really well. Charles and I had a lot of fun with group 2 in Afro-Modern. The kids were so enthusiastic and they had a lot of fun. Working on the choreography for the show is a bit challenging– but I think it will all turn out okay– projects like this always do. I have faith that the kids will do a great job in their performance on Friday. I am sure the family and friends will really love it.
By the way, New Orleans is great place. I cant wait to explore more of the city next weekend.

Just wanted to give an update on our first day! It went so well! We had about 25-30 kids today which was really great. Hopefully we will have more tomorrow. Our hopes for feeding them breakfast came through which was really exciting. They are creating some really great work and seem to be really excited about what they are learning! We have a few kids who were here last year, but we learned that a lot of them have unfortunately moved to other states as a result of things not getting better around here. This is short, but it was a great day and it is so exciting to see where the week will take us! Please hope and pray that we will find a venue for our performance on Friday!!!!
Thanks for your support!

We’ve arrived in New Orleans and the weather is balmy! It looks like we have loads of help for our first week of camp. We are a little concerned because our goal of feeding the children breakfast doesn’t look like it will happen tomorrow. We still have hope that at some point in the week it will work out! We are so excited to see the kids tomorrow and start our week! Make sure you check up on us throughout the week!
