Upcoming 2011 Season

Underground DanceWorks (UDW) & Monarch Dance Company present

“11”

Charles Tyson, Jr.’s Underground DanceWorks and Tabatha Robinson-Scott’s Monarch Dance Company team up to bring a dynamic evening of dance and performance, entitled “11,” to Jeanne Ruddy’s Performance Garage this May! “11” refers to the number of years the two companies have been in existence.

Underground DanceWorks’ premieres a brand new work entitled “Concept Album (EP)” a whirlwind experience for the stage, screen, eye and ear!  UDW invites the audience into their world, where inhibitions are left at the door and the senses are taken for a ride! Exploring raw emotion, deep passion and a bit of a social conscience, the fierce and fearsome cast of eight, talented performers explore the dark side of life, love and the quest for belonging. Featuring edgy film work from Cesa Zuniga and a special appearance by voguers from Philadelphia’s Attic Youth Center.

Monarch Dance Company will present favorite selections from their company repertory including “Audacious Pride,” “Resolve” and the haunting “The Fallen,” a depiction of one of the darkest times in our country’s history.

Also on the program will be “Wings and Dirt,” a new work by Tyson and Robinson-Scott that will feature both companies!
